On February 1, 2016 Google surpassed Apple as the world’s most valuable company according to cnbc,  appleinsider, re/code, and many other sources bringing its market cap up to $559.13 billion, while Apple ended the day with market cap of $538.7 billion. The sources mention that iPhone, iPad and Mac sales have dropped. The iPhone is Apple’s largest item accounting for two thirds of its numbers. Google surpassed Apple in February 2010 when each company was worth more than $200 billion. Between 2008 and 2010 the two companies flip flopped multiple times until September 2012 when Apple reached $610 billion. Google was more valuable than Apple from 2004 until April 2008 when iPhone sales went through the roof. Google has been dominate in mobile advertisement with 32 percent of the world market. Android phones have a huge percent of the world market outselling the iPhone five to one, according to informationweek. However, Apple may come back and top Google in the future since this has happened before. These two companies continue to vie for the most valuable technology company.
